A phoneme is the smallest unit of sound. Each different sound in a word is a phoneme, and each phoneme is represented by a grapheme (a letter or group of letters).

This activity introduces your child to the phoneme /er/ with example words and sentences. Sound out each example word. Can you think of any other words with the phoneme /er/? This activity has also been designed for handwriting practice.
